Solo Gigolos
Adonis wakes up in the familiar haze that has always characterized Ange’s apartment. The smell of stale bread, sweat, and weed wafts the room - but besides that familiarity, the two friends have not been familiar in years. In fact, this is the first time they meet outside of the United States. They are in Amsterdam, where Ange has been living for years.
Aside from trying to trace the dubious events that unfolded last night, Adonis also tries to trace his and Ange’s friendship; from their first night in the dorms to their last day in the States, when Ange dropped out of college. But while he tries to analyze Ange’s condition, Adonis delves into introspection that perhaps reveals more about his own. From his and Ange's parallel experiences in college to his fraught relationship with women, Adonis ultimately seeks to find clarity in a friendship whose nature lied in ambiguity and comfort in memories that hold none.
Just like the structure of this narrative, Adonis and Ange's story begins and ends in the same spot:
In a stuffy loft in Amsterdam.
Buy.
